Introducing Espresso Toro and Peacemaker Espresso!

This past weekend at the annual Specialty Coffee Association of America Exposition in Atlanta, Alterra proudly unveiled new names and redesigned 5# bags for both our Espresso Blend and Espresso Blend - Fair Trade/Organic coffees. The blend components will remain the same, but from here on out they will be known as…(drum roll, please)…Espresso Toro and Peacemaker Espresso - Fair Trade/Organic!

“Peacemaker? What kind of name is that for an espresso blend?” Well, peacemaker celebrates a great coffee and a great foundation for espresso drinks...an espresso that “makes peace” remarkably well with milk. For those of you with more “maturity,” you may recall peace-protests during the Vietnam War - specifically the standoffs between the National Guard and the 60’s flower children in which protesters inserted flowers into the gun barrels of the guardsmen. This is the imagery that we drew upon to represent our Peacemaker Espresso.

From selecting the coffees to tailoring the roast, everything about Alterra’s Espresso Toro was designed with espresso preparation in mind. We really like thick, lasting, reddish-brown crema; full, caramel-toned, mouth-coating body; soft, berry-sweet acidity; and flavors like chocolate, roasted nuts, spice and flowers. We hope you will too, so go grab your tamper and give it a shot.

Peacemaker Espresso - Organic/Fair Trade

Peacemaker Espresso is not only organic but Fair Trade as well! We use two dark-roasted, Fair Trade Certified coffees to create a smooth blend with a full body and a broad range of flavors. It’s great either as a straight shot or in a cappuccino or latte.
