Grab Your Shovels & Help Support Victory Garden Initiative’s May 29th Victory Garden Blitz!

posted on: May 13, 2010

The Victory Garden Initiative envisions a time when every household, person and child has access to a food-producing garden.  We believe that growing one’s own food is the key to a lasting cultural paradigm shift and a solution to many of the food crises that our culture and community is facing.

imageGardening responds to environmental, health, community, and cultural sustainability concerns with one rewarding act.  In times of economic hardship, growing ones own food creates a buffer for families in need, ensuring that everyone has access to nutritious foods.

This Memorial Weekend, on Saturday May 29th, come join The Victory Garden Initiative as we create real food systems change.  On one day, from sun-up to sun-down, we will rally resources and volunteers to inspire and install as many gardens as possible throughout the Milwaukee area.

Join us to volunteer, ask us for help installing your garden (for the cost of materials), or sponsor the garden of someone who can’t afford one.  Still cant afford it?  We offer limited garden scholarships.  Your business or organization may want to put together its own Blitz Team to show its support for this important issue.  For more information contact gretchen.mead@gmail.com or visit the website at TheVictoryGardenInitiative.com.

Real change, one garden at a time.
