Our friendship with fellow coffee enthusiast and world traveler, Hiroshi Sawada, dates back to 2006. He is the manager of a cafe called Cafe Milkart in Osaka, Japan, and his pursuit of the perfect pour brings him to the U.S. quite often. We were happy to welcome him to Alterra during a visit to Milwaukee last year, and he has been great about keeping in touch and sending updates on his life in Japan and plans for latte art and barista competitions. Hiroshi was recently featured in a Japanese coffee book while sporting an Alterra tamper t-shirt and was kind enough to send us images from the book to share with all of you. Keep an eye out for Hiroshi in Seattle at the Coffee Fest Millrock Freepour Latte Art Competition!
Hiroshi Update
We are happy to announce that Hiroshi has taken the first place prize at the 2008 Millrock Latte Art Competition in Seattle. Not only were his pours fantastic but he also kind enough to donate all the award money to the Coffee Kids organization. Way to go Hiroshi!
