In 1997 Alterra converted a former auto parts store into a café and roastery. Alterra on Prospect is truly a landmark for Alterra, it being the first stand-alone cafe in the company. For many years, the Prospect cafe held our entire roasting and wholesaling operations as well as our main offices. We have since moved into the more spacious Humboldt Blvd. location, with Prospect continuing on in its long standing run as one of the finest and most beloved Alterra cafes. As we look forward we will see the cafe refitted to serve food and will create a new feel in a location that has become a cornerstone of Milwaukee's bustling East Side neighborhood.
